Starting with Meet info:
-Bus is departing Dexter HS at 3pm heading to Huron Meadows Metro Park in Brighton (8765 Hammel Rd, Brighton, MI 48116). *I’d like the guys to all ride the bus to the meet together if possible*
Girls Varsity race is at 4:30, Boys varsity is at 5:30, Girls JV at 6:00 and Boys JV at 6:30.
If you want to drive your athlete home, please put it in writing and get it to me before race day. I don’t have a specific form from the Athletic Department yet, but I just need it in writing to have accountability.
Running Varsity for the boys (14): Based on who is available, and both who I have seen the most of and have a good understanding of where they are at right now, these guys are running in the varsity race:
This is tough because we have several guys borderline or interchangeable in that top 14 range, so just because you are on JV this week doesn’t mean anything for varsity next race. Top ten times will be our varsity at SEC Jam 1. Everyone else is on JV and running at 6:30. Please check the list below for your name. IF YOU ARE NOT LISTED LET ME KNOW ASAP!!
Second item on the list, Team Gear:
I have been working to get our team gear figured out. Unfortunately, we can’t get it in time for the race next week. However, if you follow the timeline I am telling you in this email, we should be able to have it for SEC Jam 1 on September 12th. The link is below, and I need orders in by TUESDAY AUGUST 29TH if you want gear for our first meet. We will have another round to make other purchases if you are on the fence, but this gives you guys five days to get an order in, which should be sufficient! This applies to both the girls and the guys!
Third, next week’s training:
As I said at the start of the summer, we will be training thru a lot of our races so do not expect big drop offs in the workload before races. I will be gone Tuesday and Wednesday up north for work, so I will not be at practice those days unfortunately, but Captains will lead the workout and runs those days.
Monday: HS-Ploop: 6 or 8 miles easy recovery, strength/core
Tuesday: Creekside/Track: 6x800m with 400 jog recovery
Wednesday: Hudson Mills 6 or 8 recovery miles
Thursday: Early Bird Invite 5k
Friday: Hudson Mills 6 or 8
Saturday: Long run/Breakfast at Grant Sprague’s (Huron Farms Sub – 3729 Meadow View Dr.) 7 or 10
Sunday: (on your own) Rest or 5 easy
