The Dreadnaughts brought home a pair of THIRD place finishes this week thanks to strong performances across the board. The guys started the meet out strong with an 8th place finish in the 4×800 meter relay, crossing the line with an outstanding time of 9:05, with the team of Sprague, DeRosuers, Eakin, and Wood.
The momentum continued to build in the 60 meter hurdles with Travis Spuller and Nate Shay finishing 2nd and 10th in the event with times of 8.93 and 9.48 respectively.
The lady dreads also had a strong showing in this event from the freshman duo of Nicole Bow (6th), and Lauren Bazick (12th). The ladies showed their speed in the 60 meter dash as well with 3rd and 12th place finishes from Alyssa Enciso (8.32), and Madison Wright (8.96). Travis Spuller and Danny Mitchell added onto their impressive day in the 60 as well clocking times of 7.51 and 7.76 respectively.
The next event on the track was the men’s distance medley relay team of Shelley, Bell, Thomas, and Lopez who ran away with the event finishing at 11:06.
In the 4×200 meter relay Dexter continued to shine running 2:03 in the women’s race (Enciso, Hall, Shoopman, and Korte). The men’s team also ran well posting a time of 1:50 (Evans, Van Fossen, O’day, and Kasten). The Dreads continued their success in the 1600 meter run with Miles Kanipe placing 4th in the event, and Freshman Nick Mckenzie posting an 18 second personal best with a time of 5:42. The duo of Popi Vorias and Grace Lopez also had a strong showing in the mile posting times of 6:22 and 6:34 respectively. The track events were concluded with the 4×400 meter relay where the lady dreads ran a very impressive relay with a team consisting of Taibinger, Fracassi, Frost, and Roeyert. The men also posted a 3rd place finish in the event behind outstanding efforts from Lopez, Greenfield, Bell, and Shelley.
The Dreadnaughts also had a very solid day in the field events as well. In the shot put Sophomore Caleb Williams recorded a new Personal best with a throw of 32-06.5 while his teammate Abdul Mohammad recorded a very strong mark of 31 feet. The ladies continued the strong showing from the throws with Popi Vorias 8th place throw of 31-09.00 which is an 18 inch personal best. Amanda Gilbert had an outstanding throw of 22-09.5 a full two feet ahead of where she started last season. The Pole Vault continued their tradition of excellence with 1st and 2nd place finishes on the women’s side from Katie Tewksbury and Lindsey Hayter, with jumps of 11 feet and 10-06 respectively. On the men’s side senior Nate Shay and Oliver Bishop finished 2nd and 4th with jumps of 12-06 and 12 feet. In the high jump Gretchen Schultz picked up a seventh place finish with here jump of four feet 6 inches, and Brennan Hochrein paced the way for the men with a jump of 5 feet 3 inches. The Dreadnaughts also had a very strong showing in the Long Jump with Danny Mitchell and Cameron O’Day jumping 17-06.25 and 15-04.5 respectively. Freshman Nicole Bow picked up a 3rd place finish jumping 15-0, and was followed closely by her teammate Katie Tewksbury who jumped an impressive 14-01 good for 9th place overall.
Next up, the Dreadnaughts face conference foe Ypsilanti on Tuesday April 12th at Al Ritt Field for their first home meet of the season. Field events will start at 4:30 with track events beginning at 4:45.
